Weekly Notes - 24th April



County Senior Football Championship:
Oola made it a winning return to the senior football championship following a comprehensive victory in the opening round against Na Piarsaigh. Played in Caherconlish with conditions ideal for football Oola were dominant in the opening 15 minutes as the managed to build a lead of 1 – 6 to 0 – 0. Oola’s goal coming from the boot of Daniel Quirke after 12 minutes, following a strong run from Josh Ryan. Oola’s pressure resulted in Na Piarsaigh conceding a penalty on the 26th minute which wing back John Bourke duly despatched to back of the net. Na Piarsaigh managed to registe a point from a free for the final score of the half to leave the half time score Oola 2 – 8 to Na Piarsaigh 1 – 3.
 Na Piarsaigh were quickest out of the blocks in the second half getting two points on the scoreboard early on before a Josh Ryan breakaway goal on 7th minute stretched the Oola lead. Na Piarsaigh registered another 1 – 2 without reply to leave just four points between the teams, Oola 3-8 Na Piarsaigh 2-7, entering the final quarter of the match. But it was Oola who finished stronger in the last 15 minutes with Conor getting Oola’s forth goal of the game and points from Keith Bourke, Josh Ryan and Stephen Sheehy in injury time to give Oola their first win in senior football championship for 2016. Final score Oola 4 – 11 to Na Piarsaigh 2 – 9

Clothes collection in association with Irish Clothing Collection will take place at  12 noon on Saturday 30th April 2016 at Oola GAA Field.

Oola GAA membership is now due for 2016 and can be paid to Registrar Michael Ryan (bob). Adults €20 Juveniles/u18s: €10

Doon-Oola Golf Society first outing of 2016 takes place May 2 bank holiday Monday in Ballykisteen, tee 10.25am to 11.30am. Green fee €15. This will be a team event, new members are very welcome. Membership for the year is €20.Please cntact Ger McNamara on 086-1649297 if you would like to play
